Donette Gillespie (Sandan). Sensei Gillespie joined the Laramie Bushido Dojo in the 1970s & became an active member in the University of Wyoming Shotokan Karate Club which was later renamed the University of Wyoming Campus Shorin-R
yu Karate Club. Sensei Gillespie was a prominent fixture of the Seiyo Kai International organization & active member of Juko Kai International for many years. She moved to Alaska a few years ago. For her many contributions to our organization, Donette is recognized for her important contributions.
Mike Killian (shodan). Mike Killian was my first black belt student at the University of Utah (about 1970?). Mike was a great friend and an important contributor of the U of U dojo and often entertained us with ideas. Mike also gave me my first pair of (homemade) nunchuku. Back in the late 1960s to early 1970s, few people knew what nunchuku were.
Over the years, I lost touch with Senpai Killian as I have lost touch with Sensei Gillespie. I pray you are doing well where-ever you are Mike (photo - Mike Killian is on the receiving end of yoko geri).
2010 HALL OF FAME MEMBERS

Dr. Pavel Sigalov, 1st Dan. During my years at UW, Dr. Sigalov touched the lives of everyone he worked with in the club and I was told that he touched many lives in his field of expertise - linguistics. He was subjected to the terrior of the Comunists/Socialist regime during the Cold War. Dr. Sligalov indicated that he was not allowed to study martial arts in Estonia under the rule of the Soviet Union, so when he joined the UW club, it was late in life but he became a very promintent member of the club.
Wade Stenger,1st Dan Wade was a very productive member of the UW club and provided lot of fabulous and powerful Shorin-Ryu and Kempojutsu techniques. We all remember his constant smiles and enthusiam in the classes and clinics and
provided entertainment in our travels to a couple of JKI national black belt clinics. During his years at UW, Wade was almost always present at the club workouts and provided a very positive example of a martial artist.JASON GIES , 3rd dan. A powerful and dedicated martial arts who earned black belt (sensei) ranks in Shorin-Ryu Karate and Kobudo and in Kempo-jutsu. Jason also assisted in the teaching of beginning karate and jujutsu classes in the UW Department of Phyical Education where the number of participants were limited to the first 110 registrants. The jujutsu class was liminted to 22 because of the lack of mat space.
Hanshi Andy Finley, 7th Dan. Hanshi Andy Finley has shown incredible dedication and focus in martial arts. He continues to provide insight and instruction to many members of Seiyo Kai International on his own time. Of all of the martial artists that have trained in Seiyo Shorin-Ryu Karate, probably none can match the power and focus of Hanshi Finley. For his dedication to our martial art and his constant giving of his time to others, we induct him into our Hall of Fame.
